Our Story
Founded in 2017 in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), AmberJack started as a conviction: that good software requires understanding your domain as deeply as your codebase.
Over the years that followed, we built across sectors — credit infrastructure for a BNPL platform, engineering contributions to a major online gambling operation, enterprise biometric access control, a self-sovereign identity prototype for healthcare, and our own AI-powered automotive search engine.
The common thread isn't a vertical — it's a standard. We build systems that are architecturally sound, operable by the next engineer, and actually good to use.

Access control and biometric identity management. Fingerprint and facial recognition pipelines integrated into enterprise physical security infrastructure.
DriveMind / VroomVroom
Natural language used-car search engine aggregating multiple South African marketplaces. In-house proprietary product currently in final pre-launch stage.
Healthcare SSI
Self-sovereign identity prescription system — connecting doctors, patients, and pharmacies through decentralized identity. Open source prototype on GitHub.

Grant Vine
Founder & Lead Engineer
Grant is a technical founder based in Gqeberha with nearly a decade of production engineering experience spanning some of South Africa's most demanding software environments.
Before founding AmberJack, Grant contributed to Betway's online gaming platform and built the credit infrastructure underpinning Happy Pay, a BNPL product. He also worked on the enterprise biometric systems at iPulse Systems — experience that spans fintech risk, real-time gaming concurrency, and identity security in a single career.
Today he leads AmberJack's engineering practice, taking projects from concept to production with the same first-principles rigour applied across every domain.
