Healthcare Identity Systems
Prescription workflow implementation using Self-Sovereign Identity. Decentralized. POPIA-conscious. Domain-specific.
The Prescription Triangle
Doctor → Patient → Pharmacy
Existing workflows rely on unencrypted email or paper-based systems. This architecture creates compliance overhead and data security risks.
1. Issuance (Doctor)
Issues a cryptographically signed credential directly to the patient's device.
2. Sovereignty (Patient)
Holds the credential locally. Controls access and sharing without a centralized health database.
3. Verification (Pharmacy)
Verifies the authenticity of the credential via public key infrastructure before fulfillment.
Technical Compliance
Our architecture handles POPIA requirements by removing the central data repository. By using Self-Sovereign Identity, the responsibility for data holding stays with the subject, reducing the technical liability for practitioners and pharmacies.
